Hi parents and students, Today we continued with Lesson 6. In class, we practiced using the sentence patterns “我(不)会...” (I can/cannot...) and “我学会了...” (I have learned...) to answer the questions “你会做什么?” (What can you do?) and “你学会了什么?” (What have you learned?). At home, parents can use these two questions to ask your child and encourage them to practice more. The lesson text was a tongue twister with a storyline. By reading it aloud, we experienced the rhythm of Chinese and understood the importance of tones in pronunciation. Before practicing the tongue twister, we learned the pronunciation and meaning of 7 new Chinese characters: 毛, 抱, 猫, 破, 赶, 苗, and 捉. We also reviewed the radicals “扌” (related to hand actions) and “走” (related to movement) and introduced a new radical, “犭,” which is often used for words related to animals or their actions.
