Hi Parents and Students,
Good afternoon! In today’s class, we focused on practicing the "yes/no" question structure using “会不会”, such as “月亮会不会跟人走?” (Will the moon follow people?). Students created many interesting sentences by replacing different words, like “你会不会讲中文?” (Can you speak Chinese?) and “你们会不会去公园玩?” (Will you go to the park?).
We also practiced a dialogue from page 59 of the textbook in pairs. During the activity, students worked together to express their ideas in complete sentences, which helped improve their speaking skills.
When learning the nursery rhyme “弯弯的月亮 A Crescent Moon”, students practiced recognizing and forming words with new characters: 弯wān,船chuán,只zhǐ,往wǎng,球 qiú,tíng. One important note is that “只” is a polyphonic character with different meanings based on pronunciation: zhǐ (只) means “only,” such as “我只有一本书。” (I only have one book); zhī (只) is a measure word for animals, like “一只小鸟” (a little bird). Please pay attention to the pronunciation while reading.
All students listened carefully and actively participated in reading activities. To reinforce learning, I recommend reviewing the new characters, dialogues, and nursery rhyme at home.
Homework for this week:
1. Listen to the recording and read along for Lesson 8 (Pages 54-60). Memorize “弯弯的月亮 A Crescent Moon”.
2. Complete the Chinese character writing practice for Lesson 8 (see attachment).
Next class, we will start Lesson 9. Students can try reading the text by themself in advance. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
