Hi parents and students,
Today, we reviewed the characters learned in the previous lesson to help students strengthen their memory and understanding. Building on that, we studied the short poem “Seeds” and learned six new characters: 伸 (shēn, stretch), 泥 (ní, mud), 怕 (pà, afraid), 吹 (chuī, blow), 打 (dǎ, hit), 结 (jiē, form/produce). In class, we practiced the pronunciation and meaning of these characters together and used them in meaningful contexts to help students learn in a fun and engaging way.
This lesson, we also focused on the sentence: “我要种瓜。” ("I want to plant melons."). Students practiced replacing the word “种瓜” in the sentence with other actions, such as “我要读书。” ("I want to read."), or “我要玩游戏。” ("I want to play games."). This helped improve their sentence-building skills and deepened their understanding of sentence structures.
We also checked the students' review progress on the text “Spring Rain”. Most students can now read it fluently. Please continue practicing at home to improve fluency and develop a stronger sense of the language.
All students were focused, thoughtful, and actively participated in class discussions. They were eager to share their ideas with classmates, and the classroom atmosphere was very positive. I’m proud of everyone and would like to give the whole class a big thumbs-up!
Homework for this week:
1. Listen to the audio and follow along with the Chinese textbook Lesson 10, pages 72–78. Focus on fluent reading of the texts “Spring Rain” and “Seeds”
2. Memorize and write the poem “Seeds” from memory once.
3. Continue to complete all exercises from the Chinese Workbook 2B, Lesson 10. (Students who have already finished may skip this task.)
4. Complete the “Lesson10_汉字书写练习.pdf” worksheet. (Attached)
