Mandarin 1 Assignment #6

Today we reviewed the pronunciation and writing of the Chinese Pinyin initials b, p, m, f, d, t, n, l, and the finals a, o, e, i, u, ü, ai, ei, ui, ao, ou, iu. We also reviewed the four tones in Mandarin Chinese and their respective marking methods, and practiced combining them with initials and finals. We also revisited the pronunciation, meanings, and writing of the Chinese characters we've learned in the first three units and reviewed the texts from those units.

In our next class (on Oct 28), we will have a unit test covering the first three units. The test will include simple conversations, character recognition and writing, Pinyin, as well as tone writing and recognition. Please be well-prepared.

Please complete the following exercises:

1. Listen to the recordings and repeat all the texts from the first three units.

2. Listen to the recordings and repeat the content of Pinyin lessons 1-8. Focus on practicing the combinations of initials and finals.

3. Review the 39 new characters we've learned for the first three units. Write each character twice a day while reading their pronunciations aloud ( the characters "又、两、不、见、我、有、左、来、右、个" are only required to be recognized and read in this level).

4. Complete the exercises on pages 16-17 of the textbook.

5. If there are any unfinished exercises from

previous assignments, please use this week to catch up.

If you have any questions, please email me.

Have a wonderful weekend!
