Mandarin 1 Homework #19
Dear parents and students,
Good afternoon. In today's class, we focused on the last four Chinese pinyin finals: ang, eng, ing, ong, and also covered the recognition of the sight word "ying." With this, we have completed the entire pinyin learning. In the upcoming classes, I plan to engage the students in reviewing and comprehensive exercises related to pinyin. Pinyin serves as a supportive tool for learning Chinese characters. When encountering unfamiliar characters, students can use pinyin for pronunciation, but once they are familiar with the pronunciation, I encourage them to transition to reading characters directly, avoiding the situation where they can only read pinyin but not the characters.
After completing the pinyin exercises, we continued with the study of Unit 8 of Chinese textbook. We reviewed the sentence pattern "我去学校" (I go to school) with a structure of “subject + verb + object”. Through vocabulary substitution, we expanded exercises related to this sentence pattern. Following that, we engaged in group dialogues for further practice. Finally, we learned a new text "去学校" (Go to School), introduced new characters "太," "阳," "对," "书," "包," and "要," and conducted vocabulary combination exercises.
Please remember to correct errors in workbook, also make sure to fill in any areas that were previously omitted.
After class, please complete the following exercises:
1.Listen to the recording and repeat the texts, words and phrases of Unit 8 of Chinese textbook . Recite “I Am Going to School” and “Go to School”;
2. Listen to the recording and repeat the content from the Unit 18 of Pinyin textbook.
3. Complete exercises from page 50 to 55 in Chinese workbook 1B.
4. Complete exercises from the Unit 17 of Pinyin workbook: Sections 一, 二, 三, 四1, 五and六.
The next class is scheduled for February 24th. We will start Unit 9 next class.
Wishing you a lucky and joyous Year of the Dragon!
