Mandarin G2B Homework #12

Hi Parents and Students, Good afternoon! Today, we completed the remaining content of Lesson 5. Key activities included: 1.Noun substitution practice with the sentence "妈妈买了面包" to enhance vocabulary flexibility. 2.Practicing birthday greetings in Chinese through dialogues. 3.Learning and using the sentence structure "Person + 买了 + Object。" with free talk around the theme of "shopping." We also learned eight new Chinese characters: 加 (add), 横 (horizontal stroke), 变 (change), 成 (become/grown/succeed), 干 (dry), 坏 (bad), 帅 (handsome), 环 (ring). Students explored how adding strokes to basic characters (like 一, 十, 土, 口) can form new characters through a fun competition. During the lesson, we also reviewed pinyin. I noticed some students confused the initials zh (as in知) and j (as in鸡). Please review the pronunciation of these initials at home. After class, please complete the following exercises: 1.Listen and repeat all of Lesson 5 content (P32-38). 2.Complete...

Hi G2B Parents and Students, Good afternoon! Today we learned 14 characters from Lesson 5: 买 (buy), 岁 (age), 昨 (yesterday), 给 (give), 蛋 (egg), 包 (bag), 果 (fruit), 玩 (play), 具 (tool), 哥 (older brother), 姐 (older sister), 张 (sheet), 卡 (card), and 唱 (sing). We practiced their pronunciation, meanings, and writing, as well as tried forming words with them.   During writing, we focused on:   1.The third stroke of 纟 (silk radical), 女 (female radical), and the fourth stroke of 王 (king radical) being upward stroke (提), not horizontal line (横).   2.The character 具 has three horizontal strokes inside, while the right part of 姐 has two horizontal strokes.   3.The radical of 包 is 勹 (wrap frame) and it is written from the outside first, then the inside.   Homework for this week: 1. Listen to the recording and follow along with pages 32–36 of Lesson 5 in the textbook.   2. Complete the exercises for Lesson 5 in the workbook 2A (pages 28–42).   3. Correct any m...

Mandarin G2B Homework #10

Hi Parents and Students,   Good evening! Today, we started by reviewing the new characters learned in the previous class and practiced creating words with them. Then, we worked on the dialogue on page 29 of the textbook and learned three new characters: 拍 (pāi), 拉 (lā), and着 (zhe). We also enjoyed learning two fun children’s songs.   The key sentence pattern for this class was: 小朋友讲礼貌。 It is a classic “Subject + Verb + Object” sentence structure. Students used their creativity to replace the words in the sentence and made many lively and interesting sentences.   Homework for this week:    1. Listen to the audio and read aloud the content of Lesson 4 in the text...

Mandarin G2B Homework #9

Hi G2B parents and students, Good evening! Today in class, we focused on some common polite expressions in Chinese. We also worked on the 12 new characters from page 25 in the textbook, covering their writing, pronunciation, and meanings. We practiced making words and phrases with these characters, and I encourage my students to use these polite phrases in daily life to build good manners. Let’s all work on becoming respectful and polite! Here are some key points to remember: 1. For words like 谢谢(the second谢), 对不起(the不"), 没关系(the系), and孩子 (the子), their syllables are pronounced neutral tone without tone marks. 2. Please distinguish between 再 (again) and 在 (at/in/on), and avoid mixing them up when creating words and phrases. 3. 走(to walk) is a common radical used in characters. When writing this radical, make sure the last stroke is extended a bit to support the rest of the character. 4. The fifth stroke in没should be a horizontal turn with a small bend, not a hook. 5. The left side...
