 Hi Parents and Students,

Good afternoon! We began today’s class with a quick review of characters from the previous unit. This helped students refresh their knowledge and smoothly transition into new content. After the review, we moved on to Lesson 10 , focusing on the lesson titled Spring Rain.”

In this lesson, we focused on learning 12 new Chinese characters:  (zhǒngzhòng), , and . In class, we practiced not only the pronunciation and meanings of these characters, but also how to write them correctly with proper stroke order.

When reading the text aloud, students were reminded to pronounce each word accurately. We paid special attention to the character , which has two pronunciations and meanings: When pronounced with the third tone, it is a noun meaning “seed." When pronounced with the fourth tone, it is a verb meaning "to plant." Please to be mindful of the tone and meaning when reviewing at home. After learning the characters, we also practiced word formation to help students understand and remember new vocabulary in context.

The key sentence structure in this lesson was: 我要种瓜。” (“I want to plant melons.”) We focused on the use of the word , which is a modal verb expressing intention or desire to do something. In class, we practiced replacing 种瓜 with other verbs like 玩游戏” (play games) or 看书” (read books) to help students use the sentence pattern flexibly and express different ideas. In our next lesson, we will continue working with this sentence pattern to further strengthen students’ comprehension and speaking skills.


Homework for this week:

1. Follow the recording and read Lesson 10 (pages 72 to 75) of the Chinese textbook, including the text, characters, and vocabulary. Please practise reading the text “Spring Rain” fluently.

2. Complete all the exercises for Lesson 10 in the Chinese Workbook 2B (pages 62 to 76).


Our next class will be on April 19, and we’ll continue with Lesson 10 in the Chinese textbook.

本次课后,请同学们完成以下练习:

1. 听录音,跟读中文课本第10课第7275页的课文、生字和词语。熟练朗读课文《春雨》;

2. 完成中文练习册2B10课所有练习(第62页到第76)。
