Hi parents and students,
Good afternoon, today, we first reviewed the common mistakes found in the previous homework and went over the text and new characters from Lesson 10. After that, we began studying Lesson 11, “Rivers”. Through today's lesson, students learned 14 new Chinese characters (江, 古, 国, 条, 它, 名, 叫, 长, 最, 母, 亲, 从, 着, 华), and understood their pronunciation, basic meanings, and common usages. In class, we also practiced writing these characters with a strong focus on correct stroke order and accurate structure. Students reinforced their understanding by completing word formation and sentence-making exercises.
A special reminder: please pay attention to the two different pronunciations and meanings of the character "长":
- cháng: an adjective, meaning "long" as in "length" (e.g.长短);
- zhǎng: a verb, meaning "to grow" or "to develop" (e.g.生长).
We also introduced the sentence pattern "从...到..." (from...to...), for example, "从西到东" (from west to east) and "从上到下" (from top to bottom). We will continue practicing this structure in the next lesson.
For homework, please complete the following:
1. Listen to the recording and read along with Lesson 11 (pages 78–83) in the textbook, practicing fluent reading and memorizing the text “江河Rivers”;
2. Complete a written dictation of “Rivers”; we will have a dictation quiz next class;
3. Finish the exercises on pages 70–85 in Workbook 2A;
4. Review and correct the mistakes from the previous homework.
Next class, we will continue studying Lesson 11. Please practice more after class to strengthen your understanding.
